Creation lapbook!

We've been busy with school this week, but one of the really fun points for the boys AND I was doing our Creation lapbook!

I really love lap-booking, especially for my busy boys. It helps them be so hands-on, and
that helps them really remember what they are learning. I'm hoping to do this with alot of the Bible stories,
as well as some animals, and other things.

First he said his first memory verse. He knows about 7 or 8 right now, but the first one he always starts with is Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."

So I asked him what that meant, and he said, God made heaven and earth, and he made you and me.
PERFECT! :)

Anyway, we then read the Creation story out of his little Bible, emphasizing what happened on the different days all the way up to day 7.

And then I took the lapbook out! He was really excited.
He drew himself and the world on the front.
Then opened it up to find a bunch of different things!
The little booklet contained the days, and what happened on each of them.
Then he drew his family, just four heads really. LOL
On the other side he circled the letters in his name, and filled out the papers that had questions in them.

What's your favorite color? Blue
What's your favorite number? 1 (Thomas's number of course)
What's your favorite animal? dog
What's your favorite food? he said chickoners (chicken nuggets) and drew them. LOL So cute.

See the pocket with papers on the other side?
We pulled those papers out, and I had him match what happened on which day.
He did well!
He also had a paper on the back of the lapbook for him to draw lines from the day, to the event.
And lastly, Ayden jumped in on the fun of coloring the world, and we sang
"He's got the whole world in his hands." They thought it was so funny
when I put their names in the song. :)
There are SO many free sites out there with materials for lapbooking! I'm so grateful to all the sites I got my templates and papers from! People are amazing for sharing so sweetly.

I love lapbooks, too, but I tend to find them to be very time consuming. Hopefully we'll be able to do more of them as my little guy gets a bit older. Your boys look like they work together well.

We are also working on a Creation lapbook. I did notice there weren't too many resources for a creation lapbook (that I could find, anyway). I believe I did see the printouts you used. I just haven't printed them out yet. I came up with my own days of creation book so we could do it as a craft for each day. I need to get to a store for stickers.

Wonderful way for them to learn! I think these lapbooks are a great teaching tool. The results make the work involved worthwhile. I'm sure they will pull this book out from time to time and enjoy it all over again!

My lil guy will be one on Sat. My other children are older (the youngest of our 'older' group is 17 years) -- I have never home schooled before but really want to with our newest family member. I have seen the influence public school has had on my other children and really want to be Aiden's main influence.

Definitely going to be following your blog so I can learn what I have ahead of me.
