Caterpillars, butterflies, and creation!

Since last week we were focusing on Creation, and lately the boys have been so interested in caterpillars,
I decided to dig a little deeper and let the boys discover!

We made a "lunchable style" caterpillar with crackers, ham, & cheese. The boys thought this was pretty funny.

We did our caterpillar lapbook. This was really neat.
It discussed what happened first, the eggs on the leaves, the caterpillar, the cocoon, and then the butterfly!

Caleb thought that was awesome.
Ayden just watched everything and said the words caterpillar and butterfly a dozen times. ;)

I read the questions to Caleb and he had to answer them.
You see how the second answer is blank? Well here he is making the caterpillars "breathing holes". haha

On the back of the lapbook is 2 Cor. 5:17.
We traced his hands, and added the butterflies body to make a butterfly!
We discussed how Jesus died on the cross so we could become new, and he thought that was neat!

We also read these books a bunch of times. The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Caterpillar (Target$1 book), and Hermie and the Big Bully Croaker. The boys love all of these.

Last night I decided to make them a caterpillar pizza since I had some leftover sauce and cheese, and a thing of crescent roll dough in the fridge. They loved it.

Caleb went outside to try to find some caterpillars with some tools Nan Nan bought for some bug discovery. It was really hot outside though, and we didn't look long before Caleb was ready to ride his bike. :)
We also made caterpillars out of an egg carton, googly eyes, and pipe cleaners.
They love doing crafts, and thought these were really goofy looking! They started playing crash the caterpillar. Such boys!
All in all I think our caterpillar discoveries went well! I had fun with it and I think the boys did too. :)

Erin, I am so interested in your lapbooks that you do with your boys! I am planning on homeschooling Luke until at least 3rd grade (possibly longer) and have already been collecting preschool materials for him. When did you start with your sons? Are most of your ideas from the links you shared in this post?
