Texas Trip! Part 1: *Kerrville, San Antonio, Fredricksburg*

We left Slidell around 2am, and got to Kerville around noon. Had we not gotten stuck in traffic we could have been there sooner! haha, but it was a good drive. The boys slept about 8 hours of it, so easy peasy! They are awesome travelers anyway, pretty used to it all. :)

Gran had pimento cheese waiting for us when we got in! We all made sandwiches and then the boys made cookies with her! Gran was amazed that Caleb knew how to do it all by himself. He's such a big help in Momma's kitchen. :)

We drove around "Hill Country", and I can see why they call it that. It's BEAUTIFUL.

Darryl showed me where he used to live, and we visited his Aunt and Uncle's house. By where they live there are deer in everyone's front yards. They just roam freely there. It was so neat! We got to see the deer feeder go off that night, but it was cold and rainy, so no pics of that. Don't worry we did it again! :)

The next morning we woke up

early, ate breakfast with Gran &

Jack, and drove about an hour & a half to San Antonio! I had been to the riverwalk with my parents as a teen, but thought it'd be neat to see again with the boys. Of course, back then I didn't notice that there wasn't much to protect you from the water and where you were walking... and we didn't bring strollers on this trip. Hmmmm.... Hahaha. Good thing the boys are older now. They had a BLAST running by the water and chasing birds.

and yes, my little Ay was swinging from one. Close call there! Lemme tell ya.

The boys loved walking along all the brick, and up any stairs they saw. It was so fun, and SUCH a beautiful day to do it.

We even took the boys to the Alamo. Little did we know, it was Texas National Independence Day! Haha. So there were soldiers and people everywhere practicing for the ceremony to be had later on in the day. The boys were hungry by this point anyway, so we just took a few pictures, chased some birds, and headed back to the riverwalk to eat.

When we got back to Gran's, she was about to leave to vote, so we just had her jump in our car, and we took her there. Then we headed to the park, and this park was not ordinary to say the least. It was right near a dam on the Guadelupe River! It was a beautiful day already, and just a perfect park day. So gorgeous.

We went back to Gran's to play outside a bit and relax. Gran blew some bubbles with the boys. It was so cute.

Ayden found much joy in Gran's sprinkler. He liked using it as a gun, and would go around "shooting", saying "Pow! Pow!" It was adorable.

After getting cleaned up, we all headed over to Uncle Larry & Aunt Nancy's to feed the deer. It was a beautiful day for it, and the boys LOVED doing it. It was so neat to see them come right up to you!

The Next day we got up early to head out for Fredricksburg! It's an old "german" town about 45 minutes from Kerrville, and it was really neat! They had alot of german words on the doors, and just had an old timey feel. They even had a nickel and dime store, and I had never been to one before, so that was cool! We shopped around alot and enjoyed the beautiful weather, got some ice cream, and then headed home! The most exciting part was that Gran was able to come with us and tell us about the town.

We got back to Gran's house and I started on the jambalaya to bring to Aunt Nancy and Uncle Larry's house for dinner. The dinner was fabulous. They had burgers and a fruit tray that the boys both LOVED, baked beans, salad, and the jambalaya. Everything was great. After that we left for Dallas around 830pm! It was a 6 hour drive, and poor Gran was nervous, but we made it fine around 1 am. We had a great time in Kerrville!
