Painting the sidewalk!

Last week, I decided to suprise the boys by making them some homemade

sidewalk paint! It was so easy, and they loved that I made their favorite colors!

Such a fun way for them to be creative, and be outside!

They even decided to catch some shade, and paint the tree! LOL

Yay for summer days. :)

DIY wall art for the bathroom!

This past weekend my hubs got to painting our ugly yellow-goldish bathroom

a beautfiul tan color--hot chocolate to be exact! ;)

Love it.

I needed some cute wall art, but didn't want to spend alot of $$ at the moment.

I had gotten a 3 pack of cute stencils at Hobby lobby during the week,

and these were perfect!

I had this canvas lying around for about a year & a half.. I had bought it on clearance when we lived in Germany. I spraypainted the canvas brown.

Then I used the same tan color that Darryl used for the bathroom, for the stenciled part!

I also added some blue in the center to make it pop a bit.

And there we go! Some cute, cheap, DIY wall art for the bathroom, that only

cost me a can of spraypaint, and $2.99 for stencils!

And since I had the paint out...

and had another smaller canvas on hand.

I decided to try out a few of the other stencils that came with the pack!

My two year old had different plans for me though.

Scribble painting is his game..

He was not happy that I got frustrated with him over the paint mess. LOL

If at first your two year old cutie messes it up...

try, try again.

Perfect for the stall part of the bathroom!

I love frugal ways to make the house look cuter and more decorated!

This was fun & super easy! And CHEAP! Since I had everything on hand except for the stencils and spray paint, I only paid about $5 for the supplies! Yay for cheap. :)

Super cute DIY grocery bag holder!

Now for those who know me, I'm not a sewer. When I took Home Ec in highschool, I was the one watching out the window at the guys playing P.E., wishing I was playing too. LOL I'm a sports fanatic.

I have nothing against sewing, per se, just never have had a machine, and was always more interested in other things!

So with my Grandma being here, I asked her to help me figure out one of these bag holders!

All one needs for this project is some fabric, ( I got a yard, but ended up having a lot left over) elastic, pins, coordinating thread, & a sewing machine!

Here we go!
First I folded the sides over and pinned them.
Then sewed it to make the seam to have an opening wide enough for the elastic..

I felt so powerful. hahaha

Then I got my elastic and put a safety pin on it to insert it through the hole,

And after the elastic is all in,

sew the end of the fabric over the elastic so it stays.

Then take the two sides, put them together (inside out) and sew those together before the white part, so it's hidden.

Then take a piece from the rest of your fabric and fold it over and sew it to make a strap.

Sew the strap onto the bag, making a square by turning the fabric as you go.

And there it is! I can't wait to get back to my house so I can put it to good use! :)

Crafting: Beautiful Spring Topiary!

I got to do another awesome craft with my mom!

I'm down here visiting while my hubby is away for work.

Here are the things you will need, except I ended up making a few trips to Hobby Lobby to get some more things:

3 bushes of boxwood

1 block of floral foam

1 styrofoam ball

some moss

1 planter or whatever you want to use for the bottom

a dowel rod

brown paint

paint for pot if painting it

ribbon for decoration

We worked on our pots first, so they had adequate time to dry..

Here's mom working on hers.

After the acrylic dried, we added crackle, and then added green.

The crackle was a rip off, it never worked. LOL

But the green was beautiful! We added a thin layer of that, & let it dry.

Then I sponged some brown paint on there, and sanded the pot down to distress it a bit!

I love the finished look!

And onto the tedious part! So you cut these sprigs of boxwood apart, and place

them in the ball, ONE BY ONE. Oh my goodness. We each started off with one

bush, we ended up needing 2 1/2!

My kids thought I was nuts! This took up about 4.5 hours of time over a span of

3 days. It was getting old for sure! But so worth it!

When I reached the end, I really needed more sprigs, but instead I opted

to glue gun some scraps onto it! Worked perfect and I didn't

have to go buy another bush!

And here they are! Aren't they beautiful?!

Mine's the yellow, and hers is the purple.

Had another great crafting time with my momma!

I love them! And it saved alot of money by making them ourselves.

I think we spent right over $20 making these, whereas the regular boxwood topiaries from

Ballard designs, run $49 & up! I'm all about saving the money!

Vegetable & Herb Gardening!

We are SO excited about growing our own veggies and herbs this year!!

The boys are too!

They helped Daddy plant them all last Friday.

Caleb is VERY interested, and has since asked every day about them. Making sure they are going to still grow. LOL

I'll update with our progress weekly, Caleb won't let me forget! :)
