Back from our weekend getaway
We took a trip to the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort (http://www.edelweisslodgeandresort.com/) this weekend and had a good time. We had some interesting things happen along the way, but overall it was a great time and nice to get out of the ordinary. We left Friday morning around 7:30am, dropped off Cosmo at our friend Rita's house, and drove about 3 hours to the Resort. We had stayed here before when Darryl's parents came to visit 2 weeks after Caleb was born, but I was miserable at that point and not used to all the things becoming a new mom brings, so I didn't really get to enjoy it too much. Anyway, we got there around 11:00 and checked into our room, and got everything situated there. We then headed out to go to the Neuschwanstein castle, which was about an hour drive from Edelweiss. So, we got there and went to the castle and made the LOOONG walk down and were there about 2-3 hours or so and then we left. By this time Ayden's eyes had gotten super red and puffy with stuff coming out of them and were worrying me. We had a hat on him so the sun couldn't bother his face but he just didn't look good.He had started coughing really bad earlier that day too, so we had no clue what was going on! So, we started to go to the Linderhof Palace and when we got there, I went to take Ayden out of the car and he pukes everywhere. So we clean everything up and stick him back in the car and head to the clinic at the military base in Garmisch. So we finally get to post and the clinic is no where to be found! Turns out they don't have a clinic on post! So bizarre. So we take him to the German hospital emergency room and end up waiting 2 hours for him to get seen. He had a lung, eye, and nose infection, poor baby. So we got antibiotics and went to the Apotheke (german pharmacy) to get the meds. We got drops for his eyes, saline to help wipe the goop out, drops for his nose, and medicine for his lung infection. You could tell the difference overnight after he got the meds in his system. The next day he was acting much better and his eyes were looking so much better than the previous day. So Saturday morning we went through Austria, to St. Moritz, Switzerland to sightsee around there. It was a beautiful place but everything seemed closed! That was a bummer. But the sights were awesome. It was gorgeous. The ride up there wasn't too fun because of all the windy roads, and Ayden and I both get carsick. But it was worth seeing definitely! We got to see where the bobsled was for the 1928 and 1948 winter Olympics, and that kind of thing. You could tell this was definitely a place people go to for a ski vacation or something. It was beautiful. Anyway, we spent 3 hours driving there, and 3 hours driving back, so that night we all just hung out at the hotel and swam. Caleb LOVED swimming in the pool. He had his floaties on and went to town! He didn't care if we were by him or not, LOL. He kept getting out and jumping back in! It was adorable. Sunday morning we ate breakfast there at the resort and headed back to the Linderhof (only about 25 minutes from the hotel) and went to see that Palace and then headed home. We were very glad to be home so Ayden (and the rest of us) could get some rest from our big trip! LOL But it was nice and alot of fun to see all of that stuff.
